On the evening of 27 August 2026 (US time, the night to 28 August in Germany) Rockstar showed its longest GTA 6 footage so far with the "Extended Look". The video runs about 26 minutes, aired first exclusively on Netflix and then appeared on Rockstar's YouTube channel. It consists of gameplay, cutscenes and glimpses into the relationship of the two lead characters. Here is what can be verified from the footage and the reports about it, and what cannot.
The opening
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos take a job from nightclub owner Boobie Ike. They are to pick something up in a residential building and end up in the middle of a police raid on a drug operation. Classic GTA gameplay follows: take cover, fight through the building, escape. This scene can be seen in the video itself and is therefore the most reliable basis for anything said about the flow of play.
Gameplay and combat
Combat plays from an over-the-shoulder view. Slow-motion shots via a focus indicator are visible, and several transitions between cutscene and gameplay look almost seamless. Some scenes contain quick-time moments. In a chase, Jason shoots out of the window while Lucia drives. These points come from observations by media that analysed the video. They describe what was on screen, not how the finished game feels throughout.
Activities and systems
Reports about the video name several side activities: boating and jet skiing, diving, basketball, boxing, motocross, clubbing and street racing. Reports also describe a crime profile that rates the player's brutality, and several ways to break into cars. How deep these systems go in the finished game is open. A list of activities says nothing yet about how much playtime or reward is behind them.
Everything that is not in the video
Many reports circulate about frame rate, graphics modes and the scope of individual systems. Rockstar confirmed nothing about this in the video. We only list such claims once a reliable source exists.
Our take
The Extended Look is above all proof of tone and pace: job, raid, escape, chase, all in one connected sequence. That cutscenes and gameplay blend seamlessly is an impression from the footage and not a technical promise. It is also notable that both lead characters have their own tasks in the scenes, for example when one drives and the other shoots. How often this happens in the game and whether you can control it was not explained. Anyone who has seen the video should therefore separate what was on screen from what reports derive from it.
